Dental Examination

Dental disease is painful, making it troublesome for your pet to eat, chew and play. If you notice bad breath, inflammation of the gums, discolored teeth or signs of pain when chewing, eating or playing, please call us and we will be happy to schedule a visit.

Dental exams are the first of three steps to take for your pet's dental health. When you bring your pet in for a wellness exam, our staff will always give a visual check on your pet's teeth. They will carefully exam their mouth, gums, and teeth to identify any areas of concern. Your pet's teeth are also a great indication of their overall health, therefore, if we spot something that does cause concern, we can order additional work such as dental x-rays to give us a detailed understanding of your pet's dental health.

Dental Cleaning

A dental cleaning is the second step to take for your pet's dental health. Based on your pet's comprehensive dental exam during their wellness visit, we may recommend a professional dental cleaning and potential extraction to give your pet a healthy, clean and pain-free smile. During a dental cleaning, your pet will go under general anesthesia to give our doctors and staff the ability to deep-clean your pet's gums and teeth. These cleanings go far beyond brushing, and will not only give your pet a beautiful smile, but also a healthy mouth!

Dental Care At Home

The third step to your pet's dental health is at-home care. In between cleanings, our team recommends making an effort to keep your pet's teeth healthy by regular brushings and even purchasing dental 'chews.' The more you can keep up with your pet's dental health at home, the better. For young pets, the earlier you can start brushing their teeth, the earlier they become more comfortable and won't fight you later!

To maintain dental health, we will show you how to brush your pet's teeth at-home. If your pet is too resistant, we will offer recommendations for dental treats and toys.
